My birth name is indeed Kiere Monet Caldwell, I was born and raised in Orange County, California. I have always had a deep love for art and fashion. If I wasn’t drawing for hours on end as a child. I was doing fashion shows with anything I could find in my grandma closet. I was raised by my mom and her parents. Growing up my family always let me be myself and taught me to appreciate the arts and how it can enrich your life

What do you look for when you’re shopping? How did you develop your personal style?
My personal style is something I feel is ever changing . I’ve always had a love for fashion and putting together outfits that are fun and make me feel good. I do mostly thrift and second hand shopping because I believe in trying to live sustainably. At this point in my life I want pieces in my wardrobe that are versatile and classic. I look for good quality materials and more expensive vintage brands when I shop. J Crew, Jones New York, DKNY, White House Black Market, ect. These are the brands that have been around for years and that you can find in your local thrift store. Though my style keeps changing I always look for clothing that makes me feel confident and happy. If you feel good in a piece of clothing then rock it no matter what others say.
Where does your inspiration come from as an artist?
My inspiration pretty much came from everything, I find a lot of my inspiration as an artist through culture and history. Books, movies, and music can take us back in time and gives us vast knowledge on people and the world they lived in. My art is heavily inspired by women, because women as you know are dope as fuck! I care a lot about body positivity and feminism and I always create inspired by these passions. I’m the kinda person that hopes for change and feels the need to speak out against injustice. Even though I’m only one person I know I still can add to the world and change it in someway. Whatever impacts your life, the depth that might not be easy to talk about, that can be your greatest inspiration. Speaking out about issues that matter to you through art and creativity is very important.

How do you stay inspired when in regards to creating?
Don’t stop or give up on creating! Sometimes I will draw for days or weeks and produce art that I’m not proud of whatsoever. I started putting theses unsatisfactory works of art into a bin. I then will go through this bin sometimes when I’m feeling again in a slump of producing art I’m not happy about. I’ll get inspired from the ideas I once had but couldn’t execute at the time. A big way to stay inspired is by becoming more aware of the world we are in. go outside walk around and put your phone away, pick a movie to watch from a different era you have never seen before, go for a hike, try something you always wanted to do but never had. Step outside of your comfort zone and try something new. Inspiration is all around, start tuning in on what speaks to you.
What was the biggest thing you had to remember in the process of loving who you are? What are ways you take care of yourself and your mental health?
I want to start off by saying I am amazing at giving advice about self love but when it comes to loving myself sometimes I forget to practice what I preach. With my depression I sometimes get into a bad mood that leave me feeling helpless and hopeless. Loving myself doesn’t come natural I’m bad at taking compliments or being proud of myself. I have to train my brain to love myself and this takes time and effort. I have panic attacks that leave me on the floor crying uncontrollably and feel like nothing matters. At the end of the day I always remember that “ I am ok” “I will be ok” and that “Everything is ok” That is my mantra what I always say to myself and others. “we will be ok” There are a few things I do to keep myself grounded in a pattern of self love. Therapy will always be my number one recommendation it’s not for everyone but worth a try (Don’t say you don’t like something if you never have tried it). I meditate, I write my gratitude down, I also do manifestation, I read books about people finding themselves and self love, and I always go for walks alone and stare at the sky. I’ve learned to love the beauty of the world around me and use that to fuel my own love for myself.

Where do you see your art in 5 years?
I’m in college at the moment studying illustration with a minor in drawing and painting, my main goal once I’m finished with school is to teach art and illustration. I hope in 5 years I’m doing that and helping to cultivate a new generation of artists. I want to teach to also give myself a lot of time as an artist to create. I hope to have or be on the way to having a graphic novel or comic series. I hope in 5 years my work can inspire young women to be themselves one hundred percent and love themselves no matter what.
What era mostly inspires your style?
Ohh that’s a good one, hands down the 80s is my favorite era. From the colors to the hair everything about the 80s style is amazing. Besides the 80’s I’m also a big 90’s and early 2000s style fan but the 80’s holds a specail place in my heart. Most of my style icons come from the 80s as well Adam Ant, Madonna, Prince, Bananarama, and so many more. The 80s is definitely the era That holds the most weight in my style.
I’m glad I could share a bit about myself with you all. I’m honesty just one big art nerd who is still learning new ways to life and my self every single day. I’m honored to have the life I do and the people in my life that I do. I still have a lot to work on but the older I get the happier I become with myself good and bad!
So Stay Foxy You Lovely Humans!
